Reassess

The Reassess stage records a renewed governance assessment when changes, monitoring results, incidents, risks, requirements, or other circumstances indicate that an AI system should be reconsidered.

When to use it

Use Reassess when the organization determines that existing governance decisions or assessments may no longer be sufficient. Typical triggers may include:
  • Significant changes to the AI system
  • Changes to intended purpose or use
  • New or changed risks
  • Material incidents
  • Monitoring findings
  • Changes to applicable requirements
  • Significant control changes
  • Expiry or scheduled review
  • Other governance triggers defined by the organization

What to enter

Record the reassessment information, including where applicable:
  • Reassessment trigger
  • Scope of reassessment
  • Information and records considered
  • Updated risks or findings
  • Updated classification or evaluation where required
  • Updated controls or actions
  • Reassessment outcome
  • Supporting evidence
  • Person responsible for the reassessment
  • Reassessment date
The reassessment should address the reason for the trigger and determine whether existing governance decisions remain appropriate.

What the result means

A reassessment records whether the AI system’s governance position remains appropriate or whether additional governance action is required. A reassessment may result in updated classification, evaluation, controls, approval, validation, monitoring, risk acceptance, change management, or other governance activities.

What comes next

Follow the actions identified by the reassessment. The AI system may return to earlier lifecycle activities where required. Reassessment therefore supports the continuous nature of the AIGO governance lifecycle.
