Evidence

The Evidence workspace records information that supports AI governance activities, findings, decisions, controls, and assurance.

When to use it

Use Evidence when a governance activity requires supporting information that should be recorded, referenced, reviewed, or retained. Evidence may support registration, classification, evaluation, risk management, controls, review, approval, validation, monitoring, incidents, changes, reassessment, and assurance.

What to enter

Record the evidence information needed by the organization’s governance process, including where applicable:
  • Evidence title or description
  • Evidence type
  • Related AI system
  • Related governance record
  • Source or location
  • Evidence date
  • Owner or responsible person
  • Status
  • Relevant requirement, risk, or control
  • Review information
  • Retention information
  • Notes or observations
Where possible, maintain a clear relationship between evidence and the governance activity it supports.

What the result means

An evidence record provides traceability between supporting information and the governance activity, decision, finding, or control it supports. Evidence can help demonstrate how a governance decision was reached and whether a control, requirement, or governance activity was supported by appropriate information. Evidence records do not themselves constitute certification or conformity assessment.

What comes next

Review evidence when the related governance activity is performed or reassessed. Update or replace evidence when it becomes outdated or no longer supports the relevant governance record.
