# Monitor

> Monitor AI system governance throughout its lifecycle in AIGO Framework Studio.

# Monitor

The Monitor stage records ongoing monitoring of an AI system and the governance information needed to identify changes, issues, and emerging risks.

## When to use it

Use Monitor after an AI system enters operation and throughout its governed lifecycle.

## What to enter

Record monitoring information relevant to the AI system, including where applicable:

* Monitoring scope
* Operational or governance indicators
* Relevant incidents or changes
* Emerging risks or issues
* Control performance observations
* Monitoring results
* Findings and required actions
* Supporting evidence
* Monitoring date and responsible person

Monitoring should follow the organization's defined monitoring approach and the characteristics of the AI system.

## What the result means

Monitoring records provide an ongoing view of the AI system's governance condition and identify information that may require action.

Monitoring results may trigger changes, incidents, reassessment, additional controls, review, or other governance activities.

Monitoring is an ongoing governance activity rather than a one-time approval or compliance determination.

## What comes next

Use monitoring results to determine whether the AI system requires additional governance action or reassessment.

Continue with [Reassess](./reassess) when a reassessment is required.

## Framework reference

Follow the applicable AIGO Framework guidance for monitoring, incidents, changes, risk management, assurance, and continuous improvement.
