# Approve

> Record AI governance approval decisions in AIGO Framework Studio.

# Approve

The Approve stage records a formal governance decision about whether an AI system may proceed under the organization's governance arrangements.

## When to use it

Use Approve when the governance process requires an explicit approval decision after the relevant evaluation and review activities have been completed.

## What to enter

Record the approval information, including where applicable:

* Approval decision
* Scope of the decision
* Conditions or limitations
* Relevant review and evaluation results
* Risks and unresolved findings
* Supporting evidence
* Person responsible for the approval
* Approval date
* Expiry, review, or reassessment information where applicable

The approval decision should be based on the organization's defined authority and governance process.

## What the result means

An approval record documents a governance decision and the authority under which that decision was made.

An approval may include conditions, limitations, required actions, or a defined period of validity.

Approval in Studio is a governance record. It does not by itself establish legal compliance, certification, accreditation, or conformity assessment.

## What comes next

Where required, proceed to [Validate](./validate). After validation and authorization activities are complete, the AI system can proceed into its applicable monitoring activities.

## Framework reference

Follow the applicable AIGO Framework guidance for approval, governance decision-making, accountability, and authorization.
